This is an easy-to-grow orchid, such as those that can be grown indoors in moderate climates in homes that have moderate daytime temperatures in winter.
This plant is an orchid classic - a very old primary hybrid created in Great Britain in 1884, when the first hybrids were appearing among orchids. From the beginning, these beautiful gliding orchids were at the forefront of their new hybridization and were among the most popular among the (mostly gentlemen) growers of the day. The parents of this charming hybrid are P. insigne and P. spicerianum, two of the most popular orchids of their time, and even today both are considered collectibles. This plant displays all the grace and classic lines of the species. It should be grown in cool, shady conditions and flowering during the winter. Single blooms will last eight weeks or more.
