Common name - Pseudolarix

Scientific name - Pseudolarix Amabilis

Description: A member of the Pinaceae family, it comes from China.

Tree of small dimensions, has the special particularity of being a deciduous conifer, the needles turn yellow in winter and fall completely.

Its bark also has a special beauty, as it is gray in color and cracks open over the years.

Location: Outdoors, well exposed to the sun  where it can enjoy 2 to 3 hours of direct sunlight a day (ideally in the morning or at the end of the day), protected from strong winds and frost. We must protect it in peak summer. Keep it out of the sun during the strongest hours (a shady mesh is usually sufficient) to avoid burning the new needles.

Watering: Water the soil abundantly until enough water comes out through the drainage holes in order to uniformly moisten the soil, always from above (never by immersion), using a watering can with very fine drains (there are specific for Bonsai).

Allow the surface layer of soil to dry between each watering (to confirm that the plant already needs water, touch the earth with your fingers). It consumes water moderately, although we must pay special attention in the summer, because with thirst the new needles dry quickly.

If you have a dish under the Bonsai, never leave any water in it (to prevent the roots from rotting).

There is no advantage in spraying the leaves, only do it on days when you fertilize and if the fertilizer is specific for foliar application, but make sure that they arrive dry at night to avoid fungus.

Moderate, although we must pay special attention in the summer, as new needles dry out quickly with thirst.

Nutrition: From February to September, preferably with "Biogold",  and with "Bio bonsai" thanks for regular reinforcements from "RhizaBonsai".

Pruning: The formation pruning can be done at the end of winter when it is without leaves. Maintenance pruning is done by cutting a new bud above, which are easily identified together with the new needles.

Transplant: With "EarthBonsai-Conifer" and "RhizaBonsai" in February/March, when the buds start to "move".

Wiring: At the end of winter before budding.
